The search for missing Christchurch woman Emma Campbell is entering its fifth day, with police saying they are baffled by the lack of clues.
Family and friends yesterday combed heavily wooded areas around Dyers Pass Rd, where her car was found, and will continue their private search today.
A leaflet drop has been completed around the suburb of Cashmere, while police continue to interview witnesses.
Detective Sergeant John Rae is considering the option Ms Campbell crashed her car and became disoriented.
However he is not ruling out the possibility something sinister has happened to her.
Ms Campbell left home around 5.20am Saturday morning, stopping to purchase petrol from the Shell service station in Riccarton Rd.
Her crashed car was found just over two hours later, down the side of Dyers Pass Rd. It was empty, but all of Ms Campbell’s possessions were still in it.
A pair of red shoes belonging to Ms Campbell were found further down the bank, but there has still been no sign of her.
Mr Rae says police are still looking to talk to anyone who may have been in the area.
“We have a two hour window between 5.30am and 7.30am on Saturday when we do not know where Emma or her car was,” he says.
“If people were in the area and saw no car or anything, that is important as well, as it will help in trying to piece together Emma’s movements that morning.”
Police are appealing for sightings of Ms Campbell’s blue 1994 Toyota Corona, registration SS1093.
Anyone who may have seen Ms Campbell, her car, or have been in the Dyers Pass area on Saturday morning, is asked to contact the Southern Communications Centre on (03) 363 7400.
