Police are treating the death of a man - who was found lying on a Lower Hutt driveway last night – as suspicious.

The 52-year-old man was discovered unconscious at the Farmer’s Crescent property in Taita by friends and died despite attempts to revive him.

This morning, police erected a white tent over the man’s body and cordoned off the house.

Senior Sergeant Marc Clausen confirmed the death is being treated as suspicious.

It is believed the house is occupied by a member of the Mongrel Mob and the deceased man had lived in the area for around seven years.

Neighbour Maggie Ulberg told 3 News she heard someone calling for help at around 10 o’clock last night.

“A guy was trying to do the CPR thing and the guy was trying to breathe. He spent about half and hour trying to bring the guy back [to life],” she says.

“I was hoping that he would get a second chance to live but he didn’t get it. I just feel sorry for him.”

Police will release the name of the man when his next of kin have been notified.
