Police have released a composite image of a man who allegedly attacked a 19-year-old woman in Christchurch.

The image is based on the victim’s description of the man, following the alleged assault at Burnside’s Jellie Park in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The man is described a European with dark facial hair and was believed to have been wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Police believe the alleged offender may have been bitten by the woman’s dog during the attack, but investigators are yet to find any record of him checking into a medical facility.

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack, or who may have seen suspicious activity in the vicinity of the park between 1:30am and 2am, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Christchurch Police on (03) 363 7400 or anonymously through 0800 555 111.
