An Invercargill woman this morning escaped being another road toll statistic.

Just before 7am a 1994 Nissan Primera Grey saloon was seen driving through Mataura at high speed and dangerously.

Thirty minutes later the same vehicle was again seen, travelling south towards Invercargill. Police say the vehicle crossed the centre line on a straight stretch of road at Kennington.

The car then drove into a culvert on the opposite lane and flipped.

Police and ambulance staff pulled the 40-year-old woman from the car and she was taken to Southland Hospital.

Police are seeking information from anyone who has seen this vehicle driving erratically, to help with their investigations.

Let's be positive towards the outstanding work that the police do 24 hours every day. For a moment imagine if we had no police at all. Be grateful not only for all our small mercies but for the many great ones as well.

why do police need other peoples information?. She has crashed probably at speed (investigation could prove this) and flipped, so just charge her. extra information probably would add to there case against her so they can lay extra charges. Had any one called it in when they saw the car speeding, and if they did, did the police investigate or just ignore any callers?.
