@ Jan... how many cleaners, shop assistants, office workers or those with run of the mill jobs go to work every day knowing they put their lives on the line? Every police officer i know and work with does... we run towards incidents where YOU & YOUR FAMILY would be running away from!

Cops earn way more than most run of mill jobs, eg shop assistants, most office workers, cleaners etc. If you don't like your pay then leave, same goes for most of use who are just doing the same mundane job. Yes I realise we all can't retrain for a job with a fantastic salary. Anon go to tv3 and present them with your wage package and see if they actually report on the reality or cling to what you claim is false information, because the country will now think cops are overpaid by about 10 grand by your figures.
