John Key at the Big Gay Out

The biggest event on the gay and lesbian calendar was held today and it has seen some of our most senior politicians flirting up a storm with drag queens.

But there was also a more serious tone to this year's Big Gay Out - with some of those at the event being tested for HIV.

Recent research says one in every 15 gay men in Auckland has HIV, and for the first time this year the AIDS Foundation is testing men at the event. Over the course of the evening, hundreds of men will be tested.

Also at the event was David Shearer, there for the first time as Labour leader, as well as the king of the Beehive, John Key, who has just been voted the country’s sexiest politician, for a third year in a row.

I thought seeing both Mr Key and Mr Shearer there to exhibit themselves was sickening and I'm sure I wasn't the only one.
