Free trade agreement can leave the farm gate open, all depends what promises have been made behind closed doors. When you tie countries together with agreements you get the good and the bad. It then comes down to risk management which we do not seem too good at. Worrying part is that if you do get one bad item it can cost the country millions potentially billions.

I would have thought that the government would realise and learn by now that their Biosecurity record of late is not good at all, yet we see the prok Industry battling to try and stop another disease getting into our country, why one asks, what next the big one Foot and mouth? If we are 1 of 4 countries in the world that doesnt have this disease, isnt that enough to keep this out,David carter recently said in the house, you cant have free trade and then put restrictions on product comming in, amazing who is he protecting trading partners or NZ!!!!
