A host of rare luxury vehicles will go under the hammer in Auckland this weekend.
From midday, Saturday September 11 Turners will auction off 21 prestige vehicles, with an estimated value of around $2.4 million.
The centrepiece of the collection is a 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom. One of just three in New Zealand, it is estimated to sell for more than $300,000.
Turners Auctions chief executive Graham Roberts says the auction house is “stunned” with the collection.
“The 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom is the pinnacle of every luxury car lover’s aspirations,” he said.
Mr Roberts says interest in the Phantom is likely to be extremely high – both in New Zealand and overseas.
A second Rolls-Royce Phantom, previously one of the Lord Mayor of London’s official town cars, will also go under the hammer. The classic 1967 model is expected to fetch between $75,000 and $100,000.
“These cars will no doubt make car collectors around New Zealand quiver with excitement, but we’re also getting a lot of enquiries from wedding car operators and other businesses, so it’s anyone’s guess as to who will drive them away,” says Mr Roberts.
Perhaps the most intriguing car on offer is a jet black 1996 Bentley Azure. Complete with red interior, the car’s piece de resistance is a black skull on the centre of the bonnet – complete with flashing red eyes.
Also on offer is a rare 1989 Lamborghini LM002 – one of only 25 in the world, a 2004 BMW 645Ci with no reserve, and a gold 2003 Bentley Arnage T; expected to fetch between $40,000 and $60,000.

The auction begins Saturday September 11 at midday and features 21 vehicles, with an estimated value of around $2.4 million.
Turners Auctions says they are sure this is the most extensive, extravagant and exciting prestige line-up they have ever housed.
The Prestige Car Auction will be held at Turners Auctions Penrose, Building A, corner of Leonard and Penrose Roads.
