Prince Charles is thrilled by the prospect of becoming a grandfather.

The future king commented for the first time yesterday about this week's news that his daughter-in-law is pregnant.

"I'm thrilled, marvellous. It's a very nice thought to become a grandfather in my old age, if I can say so," Charles, 64, told reporters in London.

Earlier on Thursday, Catherine, 30, was discharged from an exclusive London hospital where she had spent three nights being treated for acute morning sickness.

"I'm very glad my daughter-in-law is getting better, thank goodness," Charles said.

During Catherine's stay, two Australian radio announcers made a prank call to the hospital pretending to be the Queen and Prince Charles.

The 2Day FM jocks were provided with private details of the duchess's condition by a nurse who referred to DJ Michelle Grieg as "ma'am".

In response to the hoax call, Charles at first answered reporters questions with: "How do you know I'm not a radio station?"

The broadcaster has since apologised for the prank, while the hospital considers legal action.

Catherine is now resting at her London home, Kensington Palace.

Congratulation Prince Charles the gradfather to be, hope its a girl name Elisabeth that will remind us of Queen Elisaberth unless of course its a boy' we prefer to call him King Charles, but do not let anyone mess around with the Royals and the future Queen or the King as they will pay the price of expenditures. The above mentioned is a no joke so respect the Royals Australia, its only thieves and terrorist that sneaked around and if anything happened to Kate with her pregnancy then we will personally hang you by the neck with barbwires and not rope.

@ Alison, get a sence of humour, this call didnt affect kate in any way and if it wasnt for the media making a storm out of nothing she never would have even known the call was made. If legal action is to be taken it should be against the hospital itself for giving out details over the phone to what was a clear hoax call! This is just a couple of people trying to put a smile on peoples faces, and that is exactly what people need, its closed minded pc idiots that are making this world a miserable place to live. And face it, if it was anyone else other than the future queen who was feeling sick they would have just classed it as normal run of the mill morning sickness and got on with it

I hope the hospital does proceed with legal action. You dont play pranks on pregnant women full stop. Some people have no morals.
