Prisoner escapes from Christchurch Hospital

Christchurch police are looking for a prisoner who escaped this evening.

A male prisoner who was receiving treatment at Christchurch Hospital escaped from police custody by jumping out of a window at about 5.15pm.

Neil Joseph Anderson, 46, was heading across Hagley Park towards the Botanical Gardens.

Sergeant John Armstrong says the prisoner is not considered dangerous but police would like to hear of any sightings.

He is a caucasian, 1.72m tall, with thinning blonde hair. He was wearing a hospital gown and had handcuffs on.
