This action is NOT being taken to protect residents. Like the Council's recent admission that their green 'safe to occupy' stickers mean no such thing, it's being taken on legal advice to protect the Council's potential liability, not those they're supposed to serve. If they had the interests of their own citizens and ratepayers at heart they'd have done everything in their power to inform them of the risks, such as accessing and sharing geotech information. Instead they behave as if they're in the old East Germany.

So the Christchurch City Council wants these people to pay full rates but then employs a private investigator to make sure they can't live in the place? Slight contradiction I would have thought? Maybe they should just pay rates for the section or if it is red zone pay nothing. Sneaky stuff and absolutely no self responsibility.
