The vine-killing disease Psa has been discovered in the Coromandel, delivering another blow to the kiwifruit industry.

A number of gold vines have tested positive for the disease, with 18 orchards included in a newly established exclusion zone.

Kiwifruit Growers Association president Neill Trebilco says the growers will be extremely disappointed.

“It’s not a good feeling, and they will be having to deal with it emotionally right now and think about what they’ll do, and make plans to deal with it,” he says.

Further testing is currently underway.
