South Korean pop sensation Psy drew an audience of thousands as he performed a free concert in Sydney this morning.
Despite having just a few words of English, his song 'Gangnam Style' attracted people of all ages.
Love it or hate it, there's no denying the popularity of this modern-day 'Macarena'.
The song, about a well-to-do district in South Korea, has reached number one in 34 countries, including New Zealand and Australia – and all because the music video went viral on YouTube.
The video has had almost half a billion hits on YouTube and hundreds of thousands more people view it everyday. It's also the most-liked video on the website - taking over from Justin Bieber.
There have also been plenty of parodies posted online too.
Psy - real name Park Jae-Sang has enjoyed success as a pop star in South Korea for over a decade, releasing six albums. But he was only recognised internationally after ‘Gangnam Style’ was posted online in July. The song is widely expected to be a one-hit-wonder, but its creator says he doesn’t mind.
“Some people concerned this will be a one-hit-wonder but if it is I don't care, ‘cause look at them – so beautiful,” says Psy, gesturing towards the crowd.
The 35-year-old father of twins says he has more dance moves too.
“In Korea that was my sixth dance move, which means I have five more left.”
Psy won't be coming to New Zealand this time but may bring ‘Gangnam Style’ and his five other dance moves there in the future.
