Waikato police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who attacked a woman outside a Hamilton dairy last week.

Issac Donavan Simon, 38, allegedly assaulted a 26-year-old woman outside a dairy in the Hamilton suburb of Dinsdale on Friday, December 16.

"Our 26-year-old victim suffered a black eye and cuts in the attack and we are very keen to locate her attacker," says Sgt Shelley Begbie.

"Simon is currently on bail on active drugs charges and has an extensive criminal history involving drugs, firearms, driving and domestic violence offending."

Simon is 165cm tall, Maori and of medium build. He has previously had access to firearms and is a known methamphetamine user who police warn should not be approached.

Anyone who sees him should call 111. Others who may know where he is should call 078586200.
