The Pulse have a new coach and a new team

She still calls herself a Southlander but Robyn Broughton is now firmly behind the Central Pulse.

And she's quick to defend her new team.

“It’s talked about it too much that they’ve struggled, they’ve struggled, and probably they have but so have lots of teams and franchises,” she says.

The PE teacher's considerable experience has lured a few players, with Steel shooter Paula Griffin will be joined later by Silver Fern teammate Joline Henry from the Mystics.

But don't expect everything to change.

“There’s always been a good feeling in the Pulse Girls, and they shouldn’t be thinking we’re not good enough and can we be it,”

The team's longest serving player, centre Ngarama Olsen-Miller believes the team was on the up with their best ever result of three wins last year.

“We came third from bottom, not bottom, we’re looking to improve on that making the top four we’ve got a fantastic looking team on paper,” she says.

And another new face, general manager Kyla Lange is the Pulse's fifth executive in as many years, but says behind the scenes board members have stayed loyal.

“Up front and out front we have had a lot of change,” Lange says.

“We have had a lot of change, there are core consistencies, and that’s what keeps us going.”

They'll find out in April when the ANZ Champs kick off whether all this change has been a good thing.
