Quake families: Govt denying victims a voice

At the Royal Commission of inquiry into the Cave Creek tragedy, the victim's families had legal representation, and at the commission of inquiry into the Pike River disaster still ongoing, the families of the 29 deceased miners have legal representation.

So why then will the Government not fund a legal team to look after the interests of the families who lost loved ones on February 22?

Some have now formed a group ‘quake families'.

They have questions - mostly about building safety - and say the Government is denying them the chance to ask. Denying them a voice.

It seems like there will be two whitewashes coming our way. It is outrageous that the CHCH families are not getting legal representation when there is recent precedent. Could they take a case to the Human Rights Commission?..lawyers for Pike River..no lawyers for Canterbury families? Does the difference in Mayor have any bearing on this?
