Last night Campbell Live revealed efforts to suppress information and stifle debate over the future of Christchurch’s cathedral.

Confidential documents obtained by Campbell Live detail attempts by members of a collaborative working group to defeat the official information act and silence criticism.

The question is why the need for silence and who wanted hush-up the concerns that the process might be flawed?

More specifically why bother doesn’t the public have a right to all the information concerning the fate of such an iconic New Zealand building?

Tonight CERA, the mayor and the church respond.

No need for the meddling public to get in the way of their grand plans, nope. I hope somebody's head rolls for attempting to circumvent the OIA.
