A 4.7-magnitude quake struck in Hawke's Bay at 4.12am, rattling Napier and Hastings

Hawke's Bay has been rattled by an early morning earthquake.

The 4.7-magnitude quake hit just offshore, 10km southeast of Porangahau in southern Hawke's Bay and at a depth of 25km, at 4.12am on Wednesday.

GNS Science has received reports of the quake being felt around Napier and Hastings, and as far south as Wimbledon in eastern Manawatu.
