Queen Street's Santa has been a city institution for half a century

A popular American website has branded Auckland's famous Queen Street Santa as "the world's creepiest Christmas ornament"

The 20 metre Santa above Whitcoulls, which used to wink and feature a beckoning moving finger, has been a city institution for half a century.

But cracked.com said it was worse than even a dated "Godzilla Santa" sitting over a Dallas truck dealership.
