Queen stars Brian May and Roger Taylor are refusing to reveal who they want as their new frontman - but American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert remains a favourite.

Fans have been keen for the classic rockers to name a successor to Paul Rodgers ever since the Free star quit the group earlier this year, and it's not exactly a secret the Queen stars are fond of Lambert after playing with him during the talent show's glitzy finale in May.

May previously said, "Roger and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point. It's not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn't that easy. But I'd certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there."

And, in a recent BBC interview, Taylor confessed he was a fan of the pop star: "We did play in the finale of American Idol with the two final guys, one of whom is... Adam. He didn't actually win... but he is one of the most phenomenal singers, and I think at some point in the future we'd love to do something with him.

"He is phenomenally talented. He has one of the greatest voices I've ever heard."

As much as I love Queen I think Adam Lambert should keep doing his own thing. He is doing brilliantly on his own and no offence but I think there is to much age difference between Queen and Adam.

I would love to see Adam perform with Queen. If he doesn't want to be a permanent band member, I hope he gets together with them for at least one huge concert. Perhaps a charity event in the UK? At least one concert, please! Or, one song together?

Adam singing with Queen and taking on some of the amazing songs that Freddie performed would be a dream come true. Adam could so pull it off. I've got my fingers crossed. A great singer with an awesome band, what could be better?

Angel, there is no reason why Adam can't do both. Even permanent lead singers of some bands do solo work too. Even Freddie did. It's not like Queen tour or record that often these days. There would be no problem co-ordinating schedules. Adam's solo material is more likely to be along the lines of his debut album but his voice is suited to classic rock. The material he is choosing to do doesn't show his vocal talent to its full extent and he is already being criticised for that.

ADAM is a STAR on his own and on his way to SUPERSTARDOM. He should never land as a frontman even it's Queen. But I want to see a collaboration between them sometime in the near future and that would be EPIC!

While he would be perfect and I'd love to see it, no one is Freddy Mercury and no one should try. Freddy was amazing and unforgettable. I think Adam has much bigger fish to fry than to try to be another person. He's amazing and while I may not appreciate all of the directions he chooses, he needs to choose them. I'm looking forward to watching his choices.

This would be killer for a concert tour, but not for Adam to be the permanent lead singer. Love Queen and Love Adam so much!

I really want to see a collaboration between the band and Adam in the future. That would be epic.

Adam is much too talented to be a front man. He is the star and should be showcased alone on tour and on recordings.

I love Queen and I love Adam, but not sure Adam would have the artistic freedom he is looking for if he were to be Queen's front man. I would love to see them work together at some point regardless.
