A large pod of more than 100 dolphins has taken over Wellington Harbour this afternoon.

The marine mammals have travelled around the inner harbour from Oriental Bay to Somes Island.

The pod was regularly spotted around Seatoun this morning before heading into the inner harbour.

The sight caused traffic problems with drivers pulling over to take photos.

They didnt take over..there is something coming. That is the first ever for a huge load of Dolphins to be swimming past determined to get somewhere. That could have been ALL dolphins who have been swimming around the country all gathered together and now leaving. NZ is getting too hot, the weather is changing and it just doesnt feel right! Waiting on flight of the birds and other animals now..then we will know if we are in trouble.
