One of the two teenagers accused of murdering
Wellington journalist Phillip Cottrell has been remanded in custody
after his bail hearing was delayed in court.
Nicho Waipuka, 19,
and Manuel Robinson, 17, have been charged with murdering the Radio New
Zealand journalist in central Wellington late last year.
Waipuka
was expected to apply for electronically-monitored bail on Friday in
Wellington District Court, but his lawyer told the judge a report was
not ready.
Waipuka was remanded in custody for two weeks, Fairfax reported.
Robinson was granted bail before Christmas.
Meanwhile, police want to talk to a man who handed Mr Cottrell's credit card in to a bar at Wellington Railway Station.
The
man was not connected to the investigation except for finding the card,
but police still want to identify and speak to him to complete
inquiries, Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Miller says.
Police
also want to hear from anyone who recognises a wallet found at the
railway station, which may or may not have been Mr Cottrell's, he says.
Cottrell, 43, had just finished an overnight shift when he was attacked on Boulcott St, early on December 11.
He suffered multiple fractures to his head, neck and arm consistent with blunt impact and died in hospital the next day.
