A female manager was brutally assaulted during an aggravated robbery this morning at the Hobsonville RSA, say police.
Waitakere CIB investigators turned up at about 9:30am. On arrival they discovered a masked man had entered the clubrooms and forcibly taken a sum of cash in notes and coins.
The female manager arrived at the clubrooms soon after 8am.
"As she prepared for the work day ahead, a masked man has burst into the office," says Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Andy King.
The intruder viciously punched and beat her with clenched fists, pulled her along the floor into another room and then bound her.
"The courageous victim managed to break free but was then rebound again," says Mr King.
The offender then took an undisclosed amount of cash in notes and coins from the club’s bar and fled, running onto Hobsonville Rd.
It is not known if he escaped in a car. The offender did not speak either during the assault or the robbery.
The victim is at Waitakere Hospital, receiving treatment for facial injuries.
"She is traumatised and severely shaken by the incident," says Mr King.
Ten years ago today William Bell killed three people at the Mt Wellington RSA. A service today marked the anniversary.
