Kyle Chapman's Right Wing Resistance is believed to be behind the flyers

Flyers calling on Hawke's Bay residents to "save the White race" have been labelled "offensive" by the Race Relations Commissioner.

Last Wednesday letterboxes in Havelock North were stuffed with the flyers, believed to be distributed by the Right Wing Resistance, a white supremacist group.

The majority of the flyer was taken up by the words "It's ALRIGHT to be WHITE!", similar to one distributed in the same region in May.

In smaller print the flyer expressed an anti-immigration sentiment, and finished with: "White People Awake – Save the White Race".

"All I can say is they are offensive, it's not inherently illegal," Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres told the Hawke's Bay Today, "but the police are very interested in keeping tabs on the group."

Residents the paper spoke to were disgusted by the flyer. One called it "bullshit", and another said it was "absolute rubbish".

The Right Wing Resistance is no stranger to controversy. In November last year, balaclava-clad members, led by founder Kyle Chapman, interrupted a meet-the-candidates meeting in Christchurch.

“We were there to deliver a message, and to deliver that message we needed to do something that would cause a bit of outcry," Mr Chapman said.

"The stunt was saying when people rise up you're going to be seeing people in balaclavas and camouflage uniforms."

In 2009 they claimed to be patrolling streets in east Christchurch, saying police weren't doing enough to stop "homie vandalism and muggings" by "Polynesian youths".

In May last year, the group distributed pamphlets in Auckland and Christchurch urging people to "Stop the Asian Invasion".

In early 2009 Mr Chapman claimed he was no longer a racist after marrying a Mormon woman, but they split later that year because he refused to end his involvement with white supremacist groups, reported the Waikato Times.

@MB. Have a look at what you just wrote. Please. Have you thought why TVNZ included Chinese Television channels? It is because there is a target audience that will bring in revenue. Tax money used to write signs in foreign languages? What about the tourists who visit New Zealand, where would we get tourism revenue if tourist stop coming? This is NZ, and this is not your land. Go get yourself an education, broaden your mind and stop being a racist dud.

Freedom of speech is great - some may be offended by the opinions of others but everyone is entitled to their own, and in this instance I give respect to the ones who distributed these - they must of knew not everyone would agree with them but they still shared their opinions. If one wishes to talk about racism? Let us start with the Chinese television stations - or should we start with the ads for cervical screening starring Polynesian women - or our tax money being used to write signs in foreign languages. This is NZ and those things offend me way more than seeing and hearing that there are people who are calling on others to protect what they believe in.

Chapman may be a nutcase but Joris de Bres is not much better. There is nothing unusual about anti-immigration policies - NZ First has had one for years. So it comes down to whether Chapman is allowed to express his views even if that grates with De Bres. The flyers are not illegal in that they are not inciting racial hatred, so what's the fuss?

I always find white supremacists a bit of an embarrassment. These knuckle draggers can barely put a sentence together and they consider themselves supreme. What a joke. I'm white myself and think white people have plenty to be proud of (and not so proud of). Could these supremists kindly stop making me and other white people look like a pack of idiots? If these clowns weren't so violent, they actually could be funny. That they have the nerve to consider themselves superior to anybody is absurd. They should try looking in a mirror sometime. Perhaps they might like to try brushing their teeth while they are doing it. They make me laugh and cringe at the same time.

Kyle Chapman is indeed quite nuts. We should probably lock him up, if he cannot be rehabilitated. There's no place in a developed society for this kind of misinformed bigotry.

Good on them, about time we had someone stand up for our rights, Take a look around and you will see that every other race in this country gets special treatment and handouts whenever they bleat about how hard done by they are, and who pays for all this? = Hard working white tax payers. Once upon a time it was good to be a middle class white man with a few bucks in the bank, I show up and 'screw you partys over'.
