A flying trampoline and floating garage roofs have caused chaos on the South Island's West Coast.
Heavy rain and high winds struck just before dawn cutting power and catching residents by surprise.
The wild winds came in the night collecting anything in its path.
A flying trampoline brought down live wires and tore off the spouting of one house.
“I come out and pulled the curtains back and seen the tramp straight away/ and then I realised my spouting was all hanging down,” says Tessa Brown from a neighbouring property.
The wind blasted through at a 120 km/h.
As the weather dies down all that’s left is the clean-up and maybe a new trampoline.
