Idle threats from a Rangiora High School student sent Texan authorities into alert mode.

The teenager posted on his Facebook profile that he was going to “go to school and shoot everyone”.

The fake Facebook page lists the boy as living in Mt Heaven, Texas. He had written about being bullied and as having violent and self-harming desires.

Local authorities were alerted by a North Carolina mother whose stepson had shown her the threat.

Cherokee County sent two investigators to the location while Jacksonville police attempted to find the student at school. Both parties had difficulty finding out any information as the profile name and the name shown on Facebook were different.

After running a search on the profile’s IP address, investigators found the Internet Service Provider was based in Auckland.

The student’s name was located through another Facebook file.

American authorities sent an email to Rangiora High School and to police where the student confessed to making the threats through his fake account.

According to Stuff, Rangiora High says the boy has been the victim of severe bullying sand is receiving counselling as a result.
