Ross Taylor's captaincy appears to be under scrutiny at New Zealand Cricket headquarters this week before the BlackCaps team is named for the daunting tour to South Africa.

There are reports of an uncomfortable relationship with BlackCaps' head coach Mike Hesson, before they turned around a terrible run of results to trump Sri Lanka in the second test last week.

Taylor was asked to step down by Hesson prior to the Sri Lankan series, according to the Dominion Post.

It’s understood that that Taylor has lost the support of senior players which could lead to Brendon McCullum taking over the captaincy of the BlackCaps.

I'll go with Mike Hesson on this one, he's young, switched on & the right man for his job & a complete contrast from former coach John Wright who was a bit of an old woman & too slow for today's fast environment.

Jai, YOU need to change YOUR mentality! When you're noted as NZ captain or hitting centuries on his level then sweet. But for now, STFU. Bill, u probably don't c anyone as a captain unless they win. I wonder how u would react in the same situation. Btw,'...shows now respect...' ?? Hesson is just a patsy.

I just don't see him as a captain, his emotion when dismissed by a poor run out in the last game summed it up for me, its a test match where one run isn't going to matter but you still want to push your best bowler which put you in that position in the first place. Taylor to me shows now respect to the team or trying to win, its more about him and the team around him.

Typical of what is happening within that sport. No wonder the team never goes ahead. The players only worry about the money going into their pocket, not about the team spirit.
