A 28-year-old man has been pulled from the rubble of a collapsed supermarket building in Haiti’s capital.

It is suspected that he may have been trapped since the January 12 earthquake that devastated the city of Port-au-Prince.

He is suffering from extreme dehydration and malnutrition, but appears to be in remarkably good condition according to CNN's Dr Sanja Gupta.

The man apparently had access to a limited supply of water. However, he remains unable to communicate clearly to his rescuers or medical staff.

Further details of his survival are to follow.

While search and rescue efforts were ceased on January 23 by Haiti’s government, survivors were still being rescued as late as January 27.
