David Guetta is alive and well, contrary to rumours spreading on the internet.

The rumour was sparked by an article 'David Guetta Dies In Car Crash' on a fake news site calling itself 'Global Associated News'.

Guetta, a popular house music producer has been updating his Twitter page regularly, including commenting on the (real) death of Amy Winehouse, proving he is very much still alive.

It's not the first time the French house DJ been prematurely pronounced dead – a video uploaded to YouTube late last year claimed he'd died in a car crash, as did another fake news story in June headlined 'David Guetta Has Been Dead In A Car Crash'.

That fake story also linked to stories about the deaths of Charlie Sheen, Will Smith and 'Rick' Martin.

The celebrity death generator used to create the latest 'David Guetta Dies' story, fakeawish.com, allows pranksters to enter the name of any celebrity they like – or hate – and choose how they 'died'.

One of the options is 'dies after falling from cliff in New Zealand', which has been used to 'kill off' several famous actors, including Jeff Goldblum, Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Will Smith.

Kiwi actor Kevin Smith, famous for his role as Ares in Xena: Warrior Princess, actually did die in a fall – but it was in China, not New Zealand.
