Offers of rewards are flooding in from Timaru residents, eager to catch the person who attacked and killed two animals – one, a family cat.

Smudge, 17, was found dead on the lawn of her home, next to a beheaded hedgehog.

Paw Justice posted a reward soon after of $1000 for information.

Co-founder Craig Dunn says he isn’t surprised others have come forward with money.

“It does work, people did think that they want to join us and help us, which is great.

“On Facebook... it’s been quite a hot topic at the moment. People want to put their money forward to try and raise money to get someone to [come forward].”

A reward of $2,500 is being offered for anyone with information that leads to a prosecution.
