Comedian Rhys Darby will be the face of a new anti-piracy campaign targeting schools.
The New Zealand Federation against Copyright Theft will be distributing the Darby-fronted DVDs free to schools and online in August.
Chief executive Tony Eaton says Darby will give the anti-piracy campaign a "softer, more relevant" image.
"He says a few quirky jokes," Mr Eaton tells the Dominion Post.
NZFACT is run by the Motion Picture Association of America, which although claiming piracy is destroying its business, has actually reported record box office profits every year since 2006.
Darby shot to fame with his role as Murray on Flight of the Conchords, which for a time was only accessible to New Zealanders via illegal downloading, as it screened in US well ahead of its debut on TV here.
