Ricky Martin takes aim at Miss Peru over anti-gay remarks
Fri, 20 Jul 2012 1:32p.m.
Gay pop star and Broadway sensation Ricky Martin has blasted Miss Peru Cindy Mejia for insisting she will not let her children grow up to be homosexuals.
The beauty queen upset gay groups with her public comments, in which she suggested that homosexual adults are all the products of childhood molestation or broken homes.
Mejia said, "The day that God permits me to have children, (having gay children) wouldn't happen because these things happen perhaps because a child grew up without a father or was molested or lived with his mother and sisters (and) became effeminate."
Offended Martin has since taken aim at her on Twitter, posting, "What a shame! Such foolish comments. Complete ignorance."
