Rihanna leads the nominations at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) with an impressive 10.
The singer is up for the coveted Video of the Year award for her international hit ‘We Found Love’ as well as her collaboration with rapper Drake, ‘Take Care’.
The Bajan beauty is also named in the Best Female Video, Best Choreography, Best Visual Effects and Best Pop Video categories.
Collaborations with Coldplay and Drake have seen the star nominated twice for some of the trophies, bringing in a total of 10 nods for Rihanna.
Her duet partner and rumoured love interest Drake also scored high with five nominations including Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop Video, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Male Video - where he will face romantic rival Chris Brown.
Rihanna’s best friend Katy Perry follows in third place with four nominations from her record-breaking Teenage Dreams album.
Other highly-regarded nominees include Beyoncé Knowles, Justin Bieber, Kanye West and Gotye.
As well as being nominated for their first VMA as Best New Artist, One Direction are set to perform at the glamorous ceremony. Fellow British boy band The Wanted also scored a nod in the same category.
Soul sensation Alicia Keys will be taking to the stage on September 6 when music’s great will be honoured in Los Angeles.
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards are due to take place at 8pm ET/PT at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
