Two Christchurch teenagers have been stopped by police using road spikes after a crime spree in the South Island.

The 15 and 17 year olds allegedly stole several vehicles from Seddon and Blenheim, including a Jaguar from a Havelock home where it is believed they also stole firearms.

Police used road spikes to stop the stolen car on Whangamoa Hill near Nelson, and officers armed with guns and Tasers took the teens into custody.

The pair is due to appear in a Nelson court today.
