Robert Downey Jr. thinks Iron Man will be one of the best superhero movies ever created.
The actor will be playing superhero Tony Stark for the third time and is excited about what is in store.
Directed by Shane Black, Iron Man 3 is currently scheduled for release in 2013.
“I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three,” he told film website Omelete, “and maybe one of the better superhero movies that’s ever been made.”
Despite his enthusiasm for the latest part of the series, Robert urged fans not to forget why the first instalment was so successful.
Describing the original Iron Man movie as ‘outrageous’, the star said that the success of the sequel largely depends on how open-minded the audience is.
“I think we have to remember what made the first one good. It was very character-driven. It was very odd. It was kind of outrageous,’ he said. “And so I think we have to have the courage to trust that the audience is really kind of cool, and smart.”
