Actor Robert Pattinson fears he will be "too old" to star in another Twilight movie if author Stephenie Meyer ever decides to add a new installment to the hit vampire series.

The British hunk has portrayed vampire Edward Cullen in the movie adaptations of Meyer's popular books since the first film hit cinemas in 2008.

The fourth and final book in the Twilight saga, as it stands, has been split into two film releases, and Breaking Dawn - Part 2, is due to be released in theatres later this year.

Meyer has flirted with the idea of revisiting the characters in her vampire fantasy in the future, but should any additional novel get turned into a movie, 25-year-old Pattinson worries he'll look past his prime to star as the ever-youthful Cullen.

Speaking at a press conference at the Berlin Film Festival on Friday, he said, "I'd be curious what Stephenie would write, but I just think I'd probably be too old. I'm already too old. But yeah, it'd be kind of interesting."
