Roses are Red

Thu, 20 Aug 2009 12:00a.m.
I’m not really much of a florally person as such… I mean I love receiving flowers just like any other girl (however rare that might be) but I tend to steer clear of all things floral- floral prints, floral perfumes, floral ladies, I even have a rather strong adversity to the word floral itself (I can’t believe I have just used it 5 times in a row to prove this point!?).

But I must say that when it came time for us to pick our flowers and florist I was really excited.

Perhaps it was because it was one thing that we didn’t really have to make a decision on (and in wedding planning that luxury is rather scarce!)It was a given as far as I was concerned.

The Rose- it is its own perfect contradiction- such is life.

It is the only flower FH has ever bought me (when I was lucky enough), it’s the same flower that was in my mother’s wedding bouquet and it’s the same flower my grandmother has successfully grown in her garden for years, and it’s the first flower I am trying to stop from dying (because let’s be honest I’m not really ‘growing it’) in our first garden of our first house.

Now we had the perfect flower we just had to find the perfect florist!!

We saw 3 in 1 day (yes 1 day… and we began to feel a bit like Dorothy by the end of it).

But the one who was stems above the rest was Meghann from Metro Flowers.

She was incredibly thorough, without boring us, we felt she had a good grasp of our theme and our vision, she was able to match the two coloured roses we were after immediately (whereas one of the other florists seriously struggled with this) and she also added in great suggestions of what would work nicely with what we’d chosen- which is exactly what you need- they’re the professionals after all!!

I can’t wait to see the end product; I just know it’s going to be fabulous!

I think I’m actually starting to warm up to this whole floral thing… Dorothy here I come!

I'm getting married to my childhood sweetheart in Feb 2010. We live in our own home in Auckland, along with our 3 adorable, time consuming Meows. I'm creative, opinionated, indecisive, organised, imaginative, a little crazy and not very good at keeping quiet about things that excite me... so this is going to be my perfect playground!
