Rotorua is famous for its spas and smells, but it is about to boast another attraction – nits, or rather, nitbusters.

Two of the town's mums have decided to cash in on the lice that nobody else wants.

Head lice, cooties, nits - whatever you call them, they're embarrassing, itchy and spread like wildfire. But now the pesky blighters face a new foe - a couple of enterprising mums.

Their solution? The country's first salon specifically targeting head lice.

The salon is due to open next week, and is already inundated with bookings.

The salon will use locally sourced and organic treatments, disposable capes and sterilised combs as standard for all customers.

And it's not just school children who will benefit from the new salon. The owners say they also expect some of their customers to be adults, many of whom will be parents who have picked up the itchy insects from their children.

Fantastic venture to start up, hopefully they will also show the children how to brush their hair properly so they wont get the citters back again. My partners girls always had them when they visited during holidays we both got a bit tired of removing them. Did some research on why they stay on certain heads and then educated my partners children on how to brush their hair to keep them away. If you stimulate the natural oil on the hair folicles br brushing properly and regularly the little critters can't grip the hair, problem solved without even using any lotions or potions or time consuming combing.
