The question tonight was could New Zealand add to their medal tally of one gold and one bronze at the world champs in Slovenia?

That was answered as Nathan Cohen and Joseph Sullivan claimed a photo finish gold in the mens’ double sculls final.

The lightweight men single sculls final saw defending champion Duncan Grant fail to claim back to back titles, instead settling for bronze

Despite leading at half way, Grant faded as his Danish opponent Henrik Stephansen took charge.

Four-time world champ Mahe Drysdale booked his place in the A final with an impressive semi final victory.

Also through to their final are the mens’ pair defending world champs Eric Murray and Hamish Bond who powered through their semi as easy winners

Womens’ pair and defending champs Fiona Paterson and Anna Reymer secured their A final place, crossing the line second in their semi.

And the mens’ quadruple sculls only just missed out on a spot in their final, finishing fourth in the semi.
