This cinema is the former Capitol, Park Road, Miramar, Opened on December 1, 1928, closing in 1964. The only ROXY cinema Wellington had was in Manners Place and that has long been demolished. Based on Photo's at http://catto.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/Capitol-Court-Roxy-Cinema-Miramar-10-11/G0000P95K3FK.tnk/I0000VXfKz9PNufQ it is obvious that this is not the original cinema but a NEW ONE built as a 1930s. It does not even look little the original.

The Roxy Cinema was NOT originally built in 1928. The original theatre was named "The Capitol". The Roxy was a seedy flea pit of a theatre in Manners Street near the site of the present day Dukes Arcade.

However, it's absolutely fantastic that we have a theatre back again and I look forward to it being a great success.
