There have been a flurry of late entries for the Rugby World Cup song comp

In 48 hours Nightline will announce the winner of our Rugby World Cup song competition.

A late flurry of entries has made the job of chief and sole judge Ali Ikram an nigh on impossible one.

They included 91-year-old Alice Cherrie, who set the competition alight with her anthem, sung by Suzanne Lynch from The Chicks and produced by Eddie Rayner of Split Enz fame.

But just when you thought Alice’s story provided an irresistible fairytale finish to the competition there came another equally irresistible fairytale – Chris Dent.
