A Taranaki rugby player has been fined $750 for choking and punching his pregnant partner.

Paul Perez was found guilty last month of three charges of domestic violence in the New Plymouth District Court.

The 23-year-old appeared in court this week and was fined $750 and ordered to pay $130 in court costs.

At his earlier hearing, he was ordered to pay more than $2000 in reparation, and made to attend an anger management course.

Why hasn't he had name suppression?
This is not justice!
We should be protecting our rugby players who act as role models for our children.
All the man wanted was his misses to cook some f’n eggs.

Surely, This is a joke! I know of two drunk guys in their early 20's who got into a brawl outside a pub with some others, the injuries were bruises - that's all. The one who pleaded guilty got 9months Jail which ended up as home D, the ringleader's case was just dropped. They would have had a much better outcome if they had been a Rugby players, who chocked and punched his pregnant partner. People do something, JUSTICE stinks in this country!!
