Rural New Zealand by rail kart

3News NZ

Everyone knows we live in a beautiful country - one that's rugged and remote and filled with wonderful characters.

But all too often the main highways and tourist attraction take us away from heartland New Zealand - to the detriment of the communities that aren't lucky enough to have a state highway running nearby.

So the tourist venture we're about to look at has bucked the trend, by starting out in about as remote a place as you can find.

The area we're talking about is a little-used route nestled between Taumaranui and New Plymouth.

Lachlan Forsyth reports on the efforts to reintroduce people about the forgotten highway.

Watch the video for the full report.

Why are insurance companies not willing to take on new clients in the canterbury area? We want to change from State insurance only because of how they seem to be treating people from the earth quake, though no other wants to look at our busniess insurance. Why are they holding us to ranson? We dont have choice anymore.
