Actor Ryan O'Neal is drafting a letter to the members of the Academy to complain about the fact his longtime lover Farrah Fawcett was omitted from the Oscars In Memoriam tribute to dead stars.

Oscars bosses are refusing to accept the omission was "an oversight," insisting not every deceased star makes the list for the tribute.

But that's not good enough for O'Neal, who wants answers.

He tells X17.com, "I'm just as confused as everyone about it. They have to explain it, I can't."

He reveals he will be writing a letter to the Academy to voice his dismay about her absence, adding, "Maybe next year they'll slip her in!"
