Exactly, Williamson has hit it right on the head. The proof is they (reactionists red necks) oppose selling to Asians but turned a blind eye on ASB buying up grandparents' properties??? Isn't ASB and BNZ owned by foreign nationals?
The government will throw a billion or so at a failed "finance" company so why don't they buy the Crafar farms as well. Look at the deal all the capitalists say is there and tell me why not. The farms were put in receivership last year owing over $200 million. Bill Ralston, who is acting as a spokesman for Natural Dairy, says benefits of the sale are too good to be ignored. He said the sale of the farms would add upwards of $200 million a year in increased export earnings, create 120 jobs, and pump $5 million into getting young sharemilkers onto farms. There we are, the farms cost around $200 million, but as Bill says you could make back $200 million in a year plus creating 120 jobs and having $5 million to get young farmers into business sharemilking. So isn't spending around $200 million and getting it back in a year or two plus creating 120 jobs and getting young New Zealand farmers a leg up better than throwing a billion dollars into a hole?
