Ranui Station is no better and metcalfe road level crossing is constantly being hit by trains. The track dips before the crossing and the train hits the road.

This should be followed with regular updates to see if anything is done.

Very sad that the woman was injured, hope she recovers soon, obviously there is subsidence in the paved area between the tracks, this is quite simply caused by poor/substandard preparation of the ground before sealing and lack of maintenance of the crossing, more to the point is that there will always be a gap where the train wheels run, is there not a queation of design of the wheelchair, obviously any wheel thin enough will slot into that gap, push bike, trike, pram, etc, I wonder if there are any other hazards that cause these type of wheelchair or other similar size wheels a problem, stormwater gratings come to mind, surely it would be easier to prevent the wheels dropping into obstacles rather than removing all the potential obstacles. Busses obviously have skid pads or plates to prevent damage to the bodywork when negotiating deep gutters or steep ramps etc, surely a similar type of protective arrangement could be made for a wheelchair.
