Sailor faces recording charges

3News NZ

A 28-year-old sailor is facing charges of making and possessing intimate visual recordings.

The Defence Force says the sailor, who has name suppression, will face court martial next month at the Officer Training School, HMNZS Philomel in Devonport, Auckland.

The charges, announced today, have been laid under the Armed Forces Discipline Act.

A navy spokeswoman said no further details would be released.

No charges under the Crimes Act, so if found guilty he / she will not have a criminal record. If it warrents a court martial, perhaps the sensitive nature of this case, maybe it should have been handed over the civilian police. I wonder if the Foundation involved with this case would be happy to accept no criminal record!
