Despite the bandages, Santa is already up on Queen St (NZPA)
One of Auckland's most recognisable figures will be unveiled in just a few hours time after undergoing a makeover.
The city's giant Santa, which has stood guard on Queen St for more than 50 Christmases, is due to be unveiled at 2pm this afternoon.
Santa has undergone what many are calling an extreme makeover following complaints that with his waving finger and winking eye, he had become scary.
A team has spent more than four months working for today's big unveil.
