Why are so many of you down on Pete Bethune? Maybe some of his tactics are wrong, but his cause is a good one. We cannot allow whales to become extinct, and Japan needs to be made to stop their actions! Believe me...I am not a bleeding heart, but the whaling ban needs to be enforced before it is too late. @Kim - Last time I checked, New Zealand had a population of 4.3 million people. Several thousand Bethune supporters (a.k.a. terrorism advocates)hardly constitutes what could be regarded as the general public, just an insignificant number of vocal, emotionally compromised rabble rousers in need of a cause. Again, I reiterate my previous statement, his cause is in vain, and likewise goes for your bleeding heart rantings which are characteristic of someone who can't keep their emotions in check.
The trouble is the debate is so emotive. But the truth is he begged of pity from the Japanese Sea Shepard lied outrageously to the Japanese court. What has Pete got to be greatful for? The govt did absolutely nothing to help him. John Key even hinted in this very article that he believes that he derserved what he got. If anything, Pete should thank the Japanese justice system for being lenient

Like myself i think Buthane.Is very passionate about the demise of these great creature's(whale's) and it is descusting the Japs think it's there Godgiven right to hunt the whale's in this manner( SCIENTIFIC MY EYE).I reckon a lot's of Jap's that sit down to eat the whale meet, need to think.How would they like to be herded into coves,slaughtered and hacked at like what they've done to dolphin's or harpooned in the back like the whale's.
