GE Free New Zealand has won a court battle against the Environmental Risk Management Authority over its decision to accept applications to import genetically engineered material.

AG Research is disappointed with the finding but declined our offer to appear. Instead they released this statement:

AG Research is disappointed with the decision which accepted GE Free New Zealand’s claims that the applications AG Research lodged with ERMA to advance and extend its research on transgenic animals were too general.

AG Research’s Dr Jimmy Suttie says the ruling prevents AG Research from undertaking transgenic animal research effectively.

Jon Carapiet from GE Free New Zealand spoke to Sunrise.
